Home / Our story

Built by Josh and Bronwyn, for the Shire.

Nourish started as an idea: a health food grocer staffed by people who were experts themselves, built with the environment in mind, and easy to shop every week.

When owners Josh and Bronwyn Howe dreamt up the concept of Nourish Organic Marketplace, they envisioned a place staffed by people who were not only passionate about health but experts themselves. Today that team includes a naturopath, a herbal apothecarist, a health coach and a beautician.

They envisioned a place built with the environment in mind, where sustainability and a small footprint matter. And they wanted to be more than a health store: an independent grocer that makes living a healthy lifestyle easier, with an extensive range of organic produce and products created by local businesses.

That dream became real first in Gymea, then Cronulla, and now Bondi Junction. At any Nourish you can do all of your grocery shopping, grab a cold-pressed juice, a guilt-free treat, or a hot cup of bone broth.

How we got here.

  • Gymea

The first store opens on Gymea Bay Road, with a naturopath on the floor from day one.

  • Cronulla

A second store in Cronulla Mall, bringing Refuelled and the bone broth bar to the beach.

  • Cronulla, again

The store moves 50 metres south into a bigger fitout, between Hot Dollar and Nulla Nulla, with the juice and bone broth bar up front.

  • Bondi Junction

The first store outside the Shire opens on Oxford Street, a short walk from Centennial Park.

Built to a standard.

Every store is fitted out the same way: natural finishes, recycled timbers, a living green wall, custom shelving and joinery, and LED lighting throughout. Tailored to its suburb, built to the same standard.

Three stores, one client, one builder. That is the kind of relationship we try to have with everyone we work with.

What we stand for.

  • Experts on the floor

Every store has qualified wellness advisors working the shop, not a call centre.

  • Small footprint

Recycled timbers, refills, minimal packaging and produce that did not fly here.

  • Local first

We stock the maker down the road before the multinational, and we say so on the shelf.

The team.

Luke, Lauren, Monica, Vicky, Jo and the rest of the crew. Regulars know them by name, and the reviews mention them by name too.
